THE NILES AGENCY

The Niles Agency was founded in Yonkers by Harrison W. Niles, on September 1, 1932.  In 1957, offices were moved to Katonah, New York and continues to be family operated with second and third generation owners, Bruce and Rud Niles.  The Niles Agency is a professional organization dedicated to providing the best insurance products available to its clients at the most reasonable costs. We specialize in providing personal and commercial lines of property and casualty insurance, group health coverage and individual life insurance. By providing outstanding service and assistance to our customers, we have established a base of customer referrals as a major source of business. Our insurance companies also recognize that we perform for them beyond just selling insurance. This reputation has distinguished our agency as a top performer with our clients and companies. 
In the past five years, the Niles Agency has twice been awarded the distinction of "Agency of the Year" by the Travelers Insurance Companies.

MEET RUD AND BRUCE

Rud Niles

Rutherford “Rud” Niles is the third generation to run the family business.  Having grown up locally, Rud attended Rippowam Cisqua (Bedford, NY), the Kent School (Kent, CT), and then the College of Charleston (Charleston, SC) where he graduated with a BA in business administration.  After a brief stint in the dot com world, Rud started working as a credit analyst for AIG in lower Manhattan.  Life in a cubicle, studying graphs and financial statements was not exactly the dynamic atmosphere he had hoped for.  In 2002 he left AIG to join his father at the Niles Agency, and his role heading up the personal lines has proven to be the perfect fit.  Rud enjoys meeting new people and interacting with clients…..some of whom are third generation clients whose grandparents were insured with Rud’s grandfather, Harry.  Much like his father, Rud also holds a Certified Insurance Counselor designation and belongs to various fraternal and business organizations.

Rud and his wife, Jen, live in Katonah within walking distance to the office.  They have three children: Kingsley, Rutherford Jr (aka “Ford”) and Tanner.  When Rud is not working, he enjoys being a dad, travel, sports, windsurfing, classic cars and just about anything involving the beach.

Bruce Niles

Bruce Niles joined his father Harrison Niles when he graduated from the University of Colorado.  He and his wife moved into Katonah and they both worked for a few years.  They moved to Waccabuc where they raised their two children, Rud and Kate.  He has been active in the insurance agency and earned “agent of the year” two times over his career.  He holds a Certified Insurance Counselor  designation and is a member of various  fraternal and business  organizations.

Bruce is interested in volunteering for several non- profits.   He taught literacy in Harlem and in the Bronx for Literacy Partners, has been active with the YMCA,  was a “Big Brother”, and has been  active with Habitat for Humanity, building homes in Asia.

​

During his free time he enjoys biking, kayaking, fishing, raising shellfish, reading and travel.  In the past, he wind surfed,  played lots of racquetball and did lots of running, including three New York City marathons.


Now that he has six grandkids, he might not be in the office five days a week, but he still enjoys what he does, and doesn’t  plan to retire just yet.
